Overview
The Woodland Cree First Nation’s Economic Development Department assists members of the reserve in developing businesses that can compete in their chosen field of work. The long term goal of the Economic Development Department is to help establish an active and healthy business community that can provide services and products both on and off the reserve.
Duties of the Woodland Cree Economic Development Department may include:

Assisting band members with elvaluating business ideas, undertaking market and sales research and financial planning

Helping individuals and businesses attain grants from both the Federal and Provincial governments that pertain to economic development initiatives

Advising committee members of viability of business proposals

Establishing and maintaining a communication link with economic development programs

Attending meetings, conferences and workshops pertaining to economic development issues and trends
-
Establishing and maintaining a communication link with economic development programs and initiatives within the region.

Projects
Simon Lake Gas Station
We recently signed with Centex Petroleum for our Simon Lake gas station. We now have a Retail Fuel and Management Agreement in place with them and are looking to expand into bulk sales in the near future. We are happy to be working together to grow the business, create employment opportunities and see profit.
